Dr. Massimo Lamperti

Massimo Lamperti, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Chief of General Anesthesiology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, Prof. Lamperti worked as a consultant anesthesiologist in neuroanesthesia and pediatric anesthesia at National Neurological Institute Besta, in Milan, Italy. He completed his residency in Milan, Italy and then he attended two fellowships in the US and UK. His main clinical field is neuroanesthesia and critical care. In the last ten years, he became one of the main researchers in the field of point-of-care ultrasound and he has been involved in research in depth of anesthesia monitoring.

Dr. Lamperti is a peer reviewer of many international indexed journals in the field of anesthesiology, critical care, pediatrics, and neurosurgery. He is also associate editor of the British Journal of Anaesthesia and of Journal of Vascular Access.

Clara Lobo, an Anesthesiology Consultant, boasts a multifaceted career. As the Medical Director of CCAD's Acute and Transitional Pain Service, she's been at the forefront of patient care. Notably, Clara served as ESRA's Secretary General from 2019 to 2022, while also taking on the roles of EDRA diplomat and examiner. Dr Bhayani completed his training in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in the UK & worked as a consultant at the University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust before he moved to United Arab Emirates.
He completed his FRCA & FFPMRCA examinations was awarded these fellowship by the Royal College of Anaesthetist, United Kingdom.
After completing his advanced pain training from Nottingham in the UK he then went to the University of Toronto to complete his Post CCT pain fellowship.
He is certified interventional pain Sonologist (CIPS) & Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He completed both these World Institute of Pain Examinations and was awarded top position in the CIPS examination leading him to the examiner status for this exams.
As a clinician & educator he has taught on multiple national, international courses on interventional pain medicine using fluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance.
He worked as clinical lead for E pain, Faculty of Pain Medicine, Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK.
Pain Medicine Education is his passion. He served as a local pain medicine education supervisor and was appointed by the Royal College of Anaesthetist.
He is founder and Director of Leicester Pain Education. He is also founder of Pain Talks & PainFlix which are highly reputed online educational video platforms. He is Scientific Committee Chair of the PRO academy, UAE Chapter. He is also an editor of NYSORA’s Ultrasound Pain App.
He has authored and co-authored book-chapters and research papers.
His special area of interest includes simulation in medical education, simulation in interventional pain management & ultrasound, virtual reality in pain management & education.
His clinical expertise is in the field of major joint Denervation, regenerative therapies, MSK pain management, cryotherapy & peripheral neuromodulation.

Anthony (Tony) Absalom studied medicine at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and underwent specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care in East Anglia and Scotland in the UK.

He has been Professor of Anaesthesiology at the UMCG, Netherlands since 2009. His clinical interests are procedural sedation, anaesthesia for neurosurgery, and intravenous anaesthesia techniques. His research interests are pharmacology and neuroscience. He is a former editor of the British Journal of Anaesthesia, and is now financial director of the BJA Company. Over the years he has been President of the Society for Intravenous Anaesthesia, vice-president of the World Society for Intravenous Anaesthesia, Chairman of the Neuroanaesthesia Section of the Dutch Association of Anaesthetists and Chair of the General Anaesthesia Scientific Sub-committee of the European Society of Anesthesiology.

Professor Kenny, BSc (Hons), MBChB, FRCA, MD, FANZCA is Professor Emeritus, University Department of Anaesthesia, Glasgow and Honorary Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, University of Hong Kong. He has been a visiting professor to many departments of anaesthesia in the United States, South Africa and Australia,and was appointed Honorary Civilian Consultant in Anaesthesia, to the UK Army Medical Directorate.

He has received several awards including the Mary Burnell Medal for services to Anaesthesia from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia, the Featherstone Award from the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, the S.T. Rowling Memorial Medal, the Manchester Medal for a fundamental contribution to anaesthesia and the Henry Hill Hickman Medal awarded by the Royal Society of Medicine.

He has published more than 250 scientific articles and his research interests include the following areas:

Dr Siyam is the director of Anesthesiology operations and the Anesthesiology Residency Program Director at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). She is a graduate of the University of Maryland medical school and a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology who completed her residency training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Ohio. Dr Siyam was a member of the founding body of physicians who initiated operations at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Her special interests include neuroanesthesia, major hepato-biliary surgery anesthesia, medical education, peri-operative quality and safety, operational efficiency, physician recruitment. She serves on several multi-disciplinary and cross-organizational committees concerned with resident education, at both the local and national levels.

Dr. Michele Kigozi

Michele Kigozi is a Consultant Anesthethesiologist at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi(CCAD). She is the Associate Program Director for the CCAD Anesthesiology Residency Program and leads provision of the Intensive Care portion of the curriculum. Dr. Kigozi received her medical degree from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. She has fellowship with the Royal College of physicians; the Royal College of Anaesthetists; and with the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. Her clinical areas of specialization include neuroanesthesia, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation and critical care and she has a Masters degree in organ donation and transplantation. Her academic interests are in medical education and she serves on the education committees both on a local and national level. Dr Kigozi has worked in a variety of centers and regions in which she has been active in mentoring and educational supervision and has used these experiences to develop her understanding of culture and how it impacts the delivery of education.

Dr. Amit Jain, Clinical Professor in Anesthesiology, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University is currently working as Associate Staff Physician in the Anesthesiology Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. In the past 7 years at CCAD, he had played a crucial role in running Continuous Education Program in Anesthesiology and is currently upholding the position of Academic Activity Director in the Anesthesiology Institute. He also contributed as Preceptor for Clinical Elective Program in Anesthesiology at CCAD for 5 long years. Under his leadership, the program successfully enrolled more than 20 medical students, including anesthesia residents from within Middle East as well as residents from the United States and Europe. Overall, he has a keen interest in academics and research. Some of his key areas of interest include perioperative medicine, cardiac patients scheduled for non-cardiac surgery, perioperative antithrombotic medications, electrophysiology lab procedures and anesthesia, neuro-cardiobiology, neuromuscular monitoring, gastric and airway ultrasonography. He authored more than 60 publications in various peer reviewed journals and has contributed for several book chapters in the field of neuroanesthesia. During the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, he invested his time in conducting translational medicine research aimed at determining the pathophysiological explanations for COVID-19 disease. In this area, he proposed the concept of Epithelial-endothelial cross-talk to explain the early pathobiology of this disease and has successfully authored about 16 publications on COVID-19 disease in various auspices’ journals including but not limited to AJRCC, ICM and BJA.
