Aysha Khalaf AlKaabi

Aysha earned her Master Degree in Developmental Biology and Tissue Culturing from University of Arkansas, US in 2001 during which she has published some leading research papers on cell motility with both Dr. Paul Bell and Dr. Barbara Safiejko.

Between 1996 and 2001, Aysha worked for UAE University as a Teacher Assistant, at the Department of Biology, but since she was always passionate about representing her country in the international platforms, Aysha reestablished her career in 2004 as the Assistant Secretary General to the UAE National Commission for UNESCO through Ministry of Education in UAE.

In 2008, Aysha became renowned as the first national female TV presenter in the local news show “Oloom Addar”, broadcasted by Abu Dhabi TV.

Afterwards, she joined Dubai TV to present The Emirates Daily News Show. With all the success she had in the media, she was selected to lead the launching campaign of one of Abu Dhabi’s greatest cultural projects, “Kalima”, and afterwards to manage the Discovery Center in the newly established “Khalifa University”.

Prof. Dan Longrois, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. His activities since 2008 are in Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris), Paris, France. He trained in anaesthesiology and intensive care and obtained both his M.D. degree and PhD degree in cardiovascular pharmacology in Paris. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA.

Prof. Longrois was President of the French Society of Perfusion, a member of the Scientific Committee of the French Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and a member of the Board of Directors of the ESA and Chairperson of the NASC until December 2018. He is currently Deputy Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Anaesthesiology and member of the ESAIC Guidelines Committee.

Prof. Longrois' research interests include the cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation in shock states and the interaction(s) between inflammation and peri-operative stress and cardiovascular abnormalities. His clinical research domains are focused on cardiovascular pathologies, cardiovascular monitoring and pharmacology and their interface with anaesthesia, intensive care and perioperative medicine. Guidelines implementation is his specific contribution the ESAIC Guidelines committee activities.

Dr. Jaideep Pandit

Jaideep J Pandit is Professor of Anaesthesia at the University of Oxford. He trained in Medicine at Oxford with a Double First in Physiology and Medicine. He was Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA (1998-9), and appointed NHS Consultant at Oxford University Hospitals and a Fellowship at St John’s College, Oxford. He is Clinical Director of Operating Theatres.

He has received the Royal College Gold Medal 2023 and the Association of Anaesthetists’ Magill Medal 2023 – both these organisations’ highest awards. Previously he received the Humphry Davy (2015, 2018) and Rowling Medals(2019) and Macintosh Professorship (2012) from the Royal College; the Spring Silver Medal 2012 (Irish College of Anaesthetists); Emerald/EDRF International Prize in Healthcare Management 2017. Visiting Professorships include: Mayo Clinic 2015; Southwestern University Dallas 2015; Ann Arbor 2017; Sydney 2017; Karolinska Stockholm 2018. Lectureships include the Victor Horsley Lecture (British Medical Association 2015), 2018 Medallist Lecture, HôpitalMilitaire de Bégin, Paris; 2018 Spyros Makris Lecture (Greek Society of Anaesthesia). He is currently Visiting Professor at Harvard Medical School with a clinical faculty appointment at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Dr. Amit Jain, Clinical Professor in Anesthesiology, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University is currently working as Associate Staff Physician in the Anesthesiology Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. In the past 7 years at CCAD, he had played a crucial role in running Continuous Education Program in Anesthesiology and is currently upholding the position of Academic Activity Director in the Anesthesiology Institute. He also contributed as Preceptor for Clinical Elective Program in Anesthesiology at CCAD for 5 long years. Under his leadership, the program successfully enrolled more than 20 medical students, including anesthesia residents from within Middle East as well as residents from the United States and Europe. Overall, he has a keen interest in academics and research. Some of his key areas of interest include perioperative medicine, cardiac patients scheduled for non-cardiac surgery, perioperative antithrombotic medications, electrophysiology lab procedures and anesthesia, neuro-cardiobiology, neuromuscular monitoring, gastric and airway ultrasonography. He authored more than 60 publications in various peer reviewed journals and has contributed for several book chapters in the field of neuroanesthesia. During the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, he invested his time in conducting translational medicine research aimed at determining the pathophysiological explanations for COVID-19 disease. In this area, he proposed the concept of Epithelial-endothelial cross-talk to explain the early pathobiology of this disease and has successfully authored about 16 publications on COVID-19 disease in various auspices’ journals including but not limited to AJRCC, ICM and BJA.

Prior to this role, he served as the chairman of Anaesthesia & Critical Care at Harefield Hospital, which is part of the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals in London. Dr Walker was actively involved in leading the acute pain service at Harefield Hospital, and his interest in this area evolved into a focus on fast-track critical care, pain management, and the recovery process following cardiothoracic surgery. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Walker has a background in military service. As a Reservist he saw active duty with the British Army, which likely contributed to his interest in humanitarian work. Dr Boris Tufegdzic, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Anaesthesiology Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Expertise in research: Since 2000, I have regularly taken part in the conception, design and execution of mono-centric and multicentre randomized controlled trials (mRCT), under Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and I am Principal Investigator of many trials (see list: www.clinicaltrials.gov).
I have also been conducting meta-analysis studies in numerous topics related to Cardiovascular Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (especially about cardiac and renal protection in cardiac and non-cardiac surgery). At the moment, I am also collaborating in the creation of a network of 30 Italian cardio-surgical centres that participate to multicentre randomized controlled trials (mRCT). Since 2000, I have attended and still do many courses in clinical research, in particular for “mRCT”; “Statistics in medicine”; “Study coordinator”; and “Organization of investigators meetings”. I have a considerable experience Artificial Intelligence in Perioperative Medicineand machine learning strategies.

Personal Statement: The clinical and research interest in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care has resulted in about 200 scientific publications and invitations in national and international congresses. Regularly involved in the conception, design and execution of mono-centric and multicentre randomized controlled trials as well as in conducting meta-analysis studies in numerous topics related to Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, also in AI setting

Jacek B. Cywinski, MD, FASA is an anesthesiologist, researcher and holds an academic appointment as a Professor of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Dr. Argalious serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of General Anesthesiology and Vice Chair for Education in the Anesthesiology Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed his internship, anesthesiology residency and cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic, and then he joined the Department of General Anesthesiology in 2003 with a specialty focus on anesthesia for vascular, liver and multivisceral transplant. He earned his Executive Masters in Business Administration from Monte Ahuja College of Business in 2009 and his Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Adult Learning and in 2014. He also holds a faculty appointment as Professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He served as residency program director for the core anesthesiology residency program from 2013 to 2019. Dr. Argalious’ research interests include peer-reviewed publications in his subspecialty areas of vascular and liver transplant anesthesia, perioperative echocardiography, and education research. He serves as reviewer for multiple anesthesiology journals and is an editor of several anesthesiology textbooks. He is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) and a fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (FASA). He serves on several national committees, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) subcommittee for Clinical Circulation, the ASA committee on residents and medical students, and the ASA education subcommittee on Fundamental of Anesthesiology. He graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1988 and completed family medicine residency and chief residency at UCSF in 1992. After being in private practice for eight years in the San Francisco Bay Area, he completed the Harvard NIH-funded research fellowship in integrative medicine research. In 2004 Dr. Saper joined the faculty of Boston University and Boston Medical Center and founded the Program for Integrative Medicine and Health Disparities. Dr. Saper was Professor of Family Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and held many roles including Director of Integrative Medicine, Chair of Appointments and Promotions, Academic Fellowship Director, and Patient Experience Champion. His research studies the safety and effectiveness of integrative medicine approaches for common primary care problems such as back pain, particularly in underserved populations. Dr. Saper’s JAMA 2004 and 2008 publications demonstrating the presence of lead, mercury, and arsenic in traditional Indian medicines are highly cited and catalyzed reform in dietary supplement regulation nationally and internationally. His 2017 Annals of Internal Medicine paper demonstrating non-inferiority of yoga to physical therapy for chronic low back pain has contributed to the growing evidence base for nonpharmacologic therapies for chronic pain. He has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and received NIH career development, R01, U01 and PCORI grant funding. Dr. Saper is a past chair of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health. He teaches and mentors medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.

Dr Sam Bampoe trained in medicine at Imperial College London where he also completed an undergraduate degree in neuroscience. He trained in anaesthesia in the London Academy of Anaesthesia. She subsequently completed her residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. She has been working as a staff anesthesiologist at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland since 2007. She holds the position of Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at CCLCM. Her special interests include anesthesia for advanced head and neck surgery, anesthesia for interventional bronchoscopic surgery, management of the difficult airway and medical education.

Dr. Vincenzo Russotto

Dr. Vincenzo is an Assistant Professor at University of Turin, Italy. Intensivist at University Hospital San Luigi Gonzaga, Turin. His main research topics are airway management in critical care, ventilation, sepsis.

He is also a Principal investigator of INTUBE study (JAMA 2021) and of the ongoing STARGATE study, investigating practice and adverse events of airway management during anesthesia in a large international cohort.
